Tapestry Cushions (Pillows) – Found and Featured

I am always on the lookout for treasures.  When I find someone’s beautiful handiwork, that has been forgotten or has never had a chance to shine, I am so delighted to give it a moment!

Tapestry Cushion Covers

These gorgeous tapestries had never been framed when I came across them. The pretty pink floral one was pre-stitched, waiting to be filled with background stitch.  But I felt the textured weave of the canvas looked good as it was, and so made it up into a cushion cover that way

How I made the Tapestry Cushion Covers:

I used a yellow and white dishcloth as a backing for the lemon tapestry.  It matched the colours well and was easy to work with. I inserted a zip in the dishcloth backing and then stitched the 4 sides of the cover together.

With the pink canvas rose one, there was enough canvas to make the back of the cover too.  I had to do a bit of patchwork to make it fit – cutting some canvas from the sides, and adding it to the top and the bottom pieces. I then folded the canvas and inserted a zip in the join at the back, before stitching the side seams.

This is not the first time I’ve done this.  I have reclaimed many tapestries and handwork pieces as cushion covers and bags too.
