Meeting the Makers is a publication
on contemporary craft in KwaZulu-Natal. It accompanied an exhibition earlier this year at the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg.
"Lovers of excellence have long
been concerned about the mass of unimaginative and sub-standard wares
that is sold as craft all around us. We hoped to find craft items that
were excellently constructed, had aesthetic appeal, and which had a
sense of originality."
The book is a comprehensive list of KZN crafters and makes inspiring reading. The Shaw Sisters and Freshly Found's folded book ornaments were featured.
