Candles for a Cause

Today's theme is candles -
First some lovely local lights made by Renette of Renette's Candles.

She lives in Knysna and creates these beautiful sand candles from wax and sea sand.
Secondly - there will be a whole lot of candles burning in my neighbourhood today. A mass peaceful protest is taking place as 6 men suspected of brutally assaulting a local resident and her dad last Sunday appear in our local court this morning. The protesters will carry candles and placards with POWAR [Protect our Women Against Rape]. I am heartened by the response of the community and by the courage of the victims themselves. This is a small way of standing with them.

I saw this lady on Skye Spirit on the television on Sunday and I was so impressed! I still wanted to google her but alas I got side-0tracked... Thanks for the reminder - this is great!

It angers me so much by what has happened to that young lady. I wish I had been there to hold a board and support them. May God have mercy on those criminals souls.

Hi Denise,
Thanks for dropping by my blog recently. I've just been looking through your fantastic blog and by coincidence I recently bought some vintage EPNS cutlery like yours. I love the shape of the knives.
