Signs of Art Deco Times!

In my final post on Art Deco Durban, I have to finish off on a humorous note. I just love the signs from around the world in Charle's Art Deco home!

These 2 sides of the same sign are a reminder of apartheid days in South Africa and were fitted onto the side of train carriages. The applicable side was displayed as necessary!

Well if you ever plan to motor west
Just take my way that's the highway that's the best
Get your kicks on Route 66!
Sweet memories from the past.
Apart from the apartheid signs.
Being Dutch I always feel a bit ashamed that the word apartheid is Dutch...

Mother in law next month? That was rather sudden?

If you want a real giggle about the apartheid nonsense, try to get hold of the old Cape Town City Tramways regulations on who could sit where on which day of the week.

I love the Rt. 66 sign. Someone mentioned Get Your Kicks on Route 66, my hometown is actually named in the song..."You'll see Amarillo". One of Amarillo's few claims to fame, so everyone is very proud of it :)
