Kente Cushions

I was asked to make a pair of cushions from some narrow off-cut strips of Kente Cloth! I managed to piece together the already patchworked strips and was really happy with the out come. Kente cloth is traditionally woven in Ghana and other African countries. Narrow strips are produced on a treadle loom. These strips are then hand stitched to form larger pieces of cloth.Find out more about this African cloth at Wrapped in Pride and Kente Cloth Festival, where I found this delightful quote...

Kente has become an international symbol of skill and beauty. You have to be proud of what it is. Just to wear it is to honor it. - Emma Emos

Fab cushions. I always battle to put in a zip and end up doing an envelope opening. Do you have any tips?
