Monster Veg

I bought some colourful vegies as props for the photo shoot last week. The green spiny veg looked interesting. It is known as Bitter Melon or the Indian name of Karela! It is apparently an acquired taste and according to Sue Kiyabu of Hana Hou - "not for culinary cowards"
Ok - I'll admit I am a culinary coward - and even more so now...This Kerala has ripened and turned really nasty looking!!

It does look alive in that last photo! Looks like you are having lots of fun in these last two posts, I think you are a natural stylist, I hope you got to play!

It does look so colourful, although it brings "Little Shop of Horrors" to mind. I just quickly read about karela - useful for lowering blood sugar - but I do think I would try an alternative. (-:

Wow, what a beautiful fruit! I'm very curious about what it might taste like.

Looks like interesting things are certainly happening at 'casa freshly found'. Strangely beautiful to study but not sure I would attempt a taste of that fruit!

It is wonderful-looking in its own reptilian way, though.
