The green spiny veg looked interesting. It is known as Bitter Melon or the Indian name of Karela! It is apparently an acquired taste and according to Sue Kiyabu of Hana Hou - "not for culinary cowards"Ok - I'll admit I am a culinary coward - and even more so now...
