String Bowl

A few years ago, I took out my crochet hook and bought a couple of balls of string and just started to crochet - round and round.  I was not sure where I was going, but I just wanted to work with my hands and enjoy the tactile expression.

Recently I found this work and realised it would fit very nicely over a thrifted white mixing bowl of mine!   I am very happy with the result - and have filled it - for now - with Christmas baubles that did not make it on to the tree this year!

What a good idea, the bowl looks so warm and winterly. I love the colored christmas balls in it.

Love this! I recently made some crocheted bowls ( http://mychickaboom.blogspot.com/2009/10/woolen-bowls.html ) which are fun but aren't as sturdy as I'd like. What a great idea to actually make it like a covering and place it over a sturdy bowl. Thanks for the tip! Now to figure out how to make it to fit...

Hello! I love those baubles! Would you be willing to share where I can find instructions on how I can make my own? My grandmother made our family similar Christmas balls when I was a little girl.

Thanks!
