Vintage Christmas

I love these images from a Vintage Book in my collection called Christmas at Timothy's by Gee Denes!

Many of the traditions in this book are familiar, but some are quite different to how we celebrate Christmas. Perhaps it's a cultural thing [British - South African] but probably mostly because the book was written in 1947 and things change!

Ah, the traditions! In my mind there is also always a piano in the background.
(Used to get so frustrated at "having to" wear silly paper hats that were made for small-headed people!)

Oh, the hats! I'll never complain about paper crowns again.

Oh my! Those little girls with their locks and all dressed up in pink - I wonder where they are now? Probably getting their grandkids to decorate the tree!

Traditions are so interesting. One of my friends (85) has not put up her tree, because it has to come down on the (I think she said) 7th of Jan - and she will not be back from holiday by then.
