I am in the process of giving the cushions in my home a revamp. I am aiming for new covers and feather inners for all of them.
I made the latest pair from some plain, textured 'found' fabric. The fibres looked natural to me, but to be sure I did a burn test.
I took some of the fibres and held them over a flame. I am quite sure the fabric is not artificial, and think it is probably silk or cotton or a blend of the 2.
Whatever they are - it is working well with the lovely duck feather inners.

Hey, I just found your blog and love everything here!
Wow, I have never heard of the burn test! (I have to confess I thought it was a joke until I followed the link ...)
You are very energetic! I must admit I love making new covers but hate putting in zips etc. However cushions definately need new inners every once in a while.
Thanks K Stella!
Yes Colleen, the zips really are the down side of make covers - but quite essential for a good fit!
Anairam, the burn test is something I learned about when I did a diploma in Home Economics a long time ago! It was fun to try it out again!
delish!
