Paper, Petals, Polka Dice and Trophy

I have been focusing largely on paper art and craft lately  There are some gorgeous goodies in production at the moment.  I am loving the challenge of seeing just how much can be done, with vintage book paper in particular.

These petals were from the end of a beautiful bunch of roses.  I decided to fill this paper mache bowl with them.  On the table next to them are a delicate set of paper die! Quite a lot of fun to make!

Last week I received an enquiry about a paper buck and it's been fun doing this book-art prototype.

Stitching Stories

This sweet doll brooch was a very special gift to me from Bianca Smith of the delightful Stitching Stories. 

Bianca is an honours student here in Durban and she uses her blog to share the beautiful things she loves and the journey of her research project

 "Handmade Branding: exploring how the nature of creating craft products informs the branding craft businesses"

She recently held a Branding Workshop for crafters, and each of the delegates received a Russian doll brooch, hand made by Bianca herself. 

Unfortunately I couldn't be there myself, but so enjoyed the gift brooch which has proudly joined my collection of locally crafted jewellery.

Vintage Finery

It's been so much fun - sourcing, decorating and repairing vintage clothes for the i-love pop-up-shop at the Galleria.  I love the creative variety of challenges and delivered another huge batch today.

I am always delighted to have an excuse to crochet!  These coloured straps replaced faulty ones on this bright stripe dress top

And if this red coat had been my size, it would definitely have stayed right here - at home with me!

Market Weekend

Milestones

I don't often show pics of my family on my blog, but today is my birthday, and I was so privileged to have my family with me yesterday to celebrate. 

Most of my immediate family live close by, and some live further away in Joburg, so it was very special to be together. 
Other milestones to celebrate are:

• This happens to be my 800th blog post! I've been blogging for just over 5 years. What a great adventure it has been.

• We've recently welcomed the 500th follower on the Freshly Found Facebook page.

• Freshly Found has been at the i love pop-up-shop at the Galleria in Amamzintoti.  The lease has been extended to the end of December.  Exciting news as it has gone really well.  

So lots to celebrate this week.
