Just in Time for Summer...

...I have finished this scarf! It is the largest item I have crocheted for many years. I find working with a crochet hook so relaxing and therapeutic and have so enjoyed doing it again. I can feel a big granny square blanket threatening to happen soon!I made this from a bag of odd balls of wool given to me by my mom! I started with a long chain. Then I did 1 row of treble into the chain, then I worked another row of treble on the other side of the chain. This meant that I worked on two edges of the scarf simultaneously, making it easy to use up the scraps of wool in a symmetrical way.
Here in the Southern Hemisphere, things are just hotting up - but if a surprise trip to the Northern Hemisphere just happened to come up soon, I am well prepared!

For a good laugh about people who have taken their knitting and crocheting skills too far have a look here. via Doubletakes

I love the combination of colours! Clever to do both sides at the same time.

My goodness! I just looked at some of the items at "why would you knit that?" - amazing, interesting, weird. Different spokes for different okes!

Hey Estelle - if it's cold in Gauteng I will definitely be sporting my new scarf! Not much of a chance though! Not long till I see you now!

I have to agree with Estelle I have always had a soft spot for blues and browns.

Yeah, you won't be needing that scarf in Jozi. Nor will you need an umbrella at this time ... but we are hoping and praying!
Really looking forward to actually seeing you.

That scarf looks positively cosy!! I had a good laugh at that link you posted - but I shouldn't laugh - my purple crocheted triffid brooch (http://fraiing.blogspot.com/2008/07/day-of-triffids.html)
could fit in very well with those creations ...
