Pencil Garland

I love my pack of coloured pencils! I don't ever actually draw with them, but I enjoy their presence and the sense of possibility and opportunity that they represent. I have had them as a bowl of 'flowers' before and as a stack. This time I decided to tie them into a garland!I have attached them to my cornice near the ceiling, so they add lively height to my Living Room!See how it fits together with my table over here

How sweet, simple and colourful.
"Garland" is such a specific word. Prompted me to Google the old nursery rhyme about Johnny and the fair.

Hi there! I'm really enjoying looking around your blog. Beautiful photos and I love what you did with that lamp table. You have me looking at an old table in my home with new eyes :)

This is so clever - I love the idea! And you are so right about the cost aspect - flowers are so damn expensive now, I've sadly stopped buying them. I'm making do with branches and leaves from my garden (no flowers there, unfortunately). But what an interesting exercise, to look for something that costs less than a bunch of flowers, and 'repurpose' it!

I did something similar with my toothbrush(es). I hung them from my mirror in a similar fashion. Now that I have my squirrel vase/toothbrush holder I no longer 'hang' them but I like your pencil idea. :)

I also love to make garlands with unlikely things, or just suspend stuff. I don't know why but it appeals to me to see things in this way. But I've ever thought of doing this and what a perfect idea it is! So clever, Denise. You are brilliant at the transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary!
